After waking up from a night in the hostel, we boarded a van to go to Iguassu Falls. Although some things did not happen as planned such as the trails we had planned to hike were closed and the boats we had planned on riding had been closed from flood damage; we still managed to have a great time. We took a mile walk along a scenic route of the falls which was absolutely breathe taking and we were able to stand in the middle of it! We were greeted by some funny animals along the way known as Quatis which were kind of a mixture between a raccoon and a skunk. We went on a short hike through the woods on our way down to the bottom of the falls where we boarded a raft that took us through the falls. After our crazy boat ride and coming back completely soaked, we discussed some interesting features of the park as we were leaving. Some of the things we noticed were the falls are a natural wonder but the park does not provide any information on them or how important it is to be environmentally aware to conserve them. The park was very touristy and money was needed for almost every excursion. The park seemed more interested in profit, than conserving and educating people on its natural wonders. |
