Our morning started off with breakfast and many of us doing laundry in the bath tub. We had been In Brazil for about a week, and packed only enough for one week. After our clothes had been soaked in a stuffed up bath tub with handmade detergent we met the rest of our group in the lobby to board a tour bus of the city. Although the tour bus stopped at over 30 different places in the city, we stopped at five of our choice. Our first stop was at one of Curitiba’s five parks that were built to channel flood waters away from residential areas and to create public spaces. The park even had its own designated lanes in the pavement for walkers, joggers, and for items with wheels along with having out door gym equipment. The parks also took advantage of the area by using capybara herds to mow the grass. Our next stop was the town mall which was a very nice strip with an open window overhead, we had our lunch there and had a chance to walk around the downtown area before our next stop at the Botanical Gardens. The Botanical Gardens was a beautiful garden area where Brazils native plants were grown along with imported plants that are common in the area. Our last stop was at the bus terminal where we took time to observe how efficient the bus system is. |
